FINAL GUEST LECTURES DURING THE 5TH WEEK OF KOREAN STUDIES

December 6 and December 8 at the Ablai khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages , as part of the 5th Week of Korean Studies, online guest lectures were held for 1st-4th year students of the Korean section of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

On December 6, Ko Hoyun, a professor at Nazarbayev University, gave a lecture on the topic “Comparison of the political systems of South and North Korea.” The professor spoke in detail about the current situation between the two Koreas, which preceded the division of the once united state, and spoke about the great differences in political systems. The topic that was touched upon by the lecturer turned out to be very interesting for Korean studies students of all three educational programs of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Many questions were asked, and the audience received meaningful and detailed answers from the lecturer. More than 50 students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies attended the lecture. The lecture was very informative and educational.

On December 8, as part of the 5th Week of Korean Studies, a guest lecture on the topic “Prospects for the development and teaching of the Korean language in Central Asia” for students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies was given by Paek Taehyun, professor at the Korean Institute in Central Asia, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

At the lecture, students were able to learn about the history of teaching the Korean language in the countries of Central Asia, how in demand the language is and the prospects for teaching the Korean language in Central Asia, what the problems are and what are the ways to solve them, according to the lecturer. At the end of the lecture, students were able to ask questions of interest to Professor Paek Taehyun, who was happy to answer all their questions about learning the Korean language and gave useful recommendations to students.

These two online lectures were the final ones in the series of lectures of the 5th Week of Korean Studies, successfully held at Ablai khan KazUIR and WL.
