Guest lecture on "The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the light of the Law of international treaties"

On April 10, 2024, among the 3rd year students of the specialty "Jurisprudence" of the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Abylai Khan, a guest lecture was given by Ph.D. in Law, St.Rev. Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of Al-Farabi Zhugralin B.M. KazNU on the topic "The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the light of the Law of international treaties". The lectures were organized by Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of International Law Meermanova Zh.B..

During the lecture, the issues of the origin and development of the idea of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights were highlighted, an overview of the main provisions of the Covenant, the law of international treaties was given, an analysis of judicial practice and legislative changes was given, as well as problems and prospects in ensuring the protection of civil and political rights in the context of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The students were particularly interested in the issue of legislative changes and adaptations of the national legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to international standards. On the issues of interest, it was concluded about the role and meanings of the International Covenant in the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of the Law of international treaties.
