The Educational and Methodological Association (hereinafter referred to as the EMA) is a consultative and advisory body on educational, methodological and scientific-methodological issues in the field of higher and postgraduate education, which is a part of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

EMA in its activities is guided by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education”, the Regulations “On the Republican Educational and Methodological Council of Higher and Postgraduate Education” and other regulatory documents of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The educational and methodological association for the group of majors "Foreign languages" on the basis of the Abylay Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages  was created in 1995.

At this time, the EMA for group 6B01 Pedagogical Sciences, direction 6B017 “Training of teachers/educators in languages and literature” and group 6B02 “Arts and Humanities”, direction 6B023 “Languages and Literature”, which includes Educational Programs “Translation Studies” and Educational Programs “Foreign Philology” on the basis of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages  organizes educational and methodological support for Educational Programs of higher and postgraduate education.

  • Methodological consulting of universities of the Republic on issues of organizing the educational process.

The management of the activities of the Educational Methodical Association for the group of specialties "Foreign languages" is carried out by the chairman - Rector of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philology Kunanbayeva Salima Sagievna.

The deputy chairman of the EMA is the head of the department of the educational and methodological association of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages ​​ - Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor T.A. Kulgildinova.

The current organizational work, documentation and office work is carried out by the secretary of the EMA.

The EMA for the group of specialties "Foreign languages" on the basis of the Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages includes educational and methodological commissions and subsections for groups of specialties of higher and postgraduate education.

PhD - International Relations

Doctoral program "8D03121 - International relations"

Becoming one of the first universities to open the Faculty of International Relations, Ablai Khan University of IRaWL is an ideal place to get a PhD in the educational program "8D03121 - International Relations".

         Language of instruction: Kazakh, Russian, English

         Duration of training: -3 years.

         Education is based on:

- state scholarships (state grants);

- on a contractual basis (paid).

         Form of study: - full-time.

After graduation, the graduate is awarded a doctor's degree in the EP "8D03121 - International Relations".

         Classes are conducted by teachers engaged in topical problem studies of world politics and international relations, creating a demanding, but friendly and favorable environment in which you can engage in scientific work in accordance with your research interests. The teaching staff is represented by researchers with high academic qualifications: 2 Doctors of sciences, 1 Candidate of Sciences, 1 PhD, as well as scientists from Great Britain, Germany, Turkey, Russia, France, China and other foreign countries.

         Tasks of doctoral students:

         - plan and conduct research/ experimental research activities in the field of international relations, successfully carry out research and management activities, possess modern information technologies, including methods of obtaining, processing and storing scientific information.

         - to carry out scientific projects at national and international levels that require in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills that provide an original practical result.

         Rules for admission to doctoral studies :

         - The entrance exam to the doctoral program is held in electronic format (on the basis of testing centers): writing an essay (at the computer), a test of readiness for doctoral studies and exams on the profile of the educational program.

         Acceptance of applications for doctoral studies begins on July 3 of this year and will last until August 3. Entrance exams for admission to the doctoral program will be held from August 4 to August 20. Enrollment in the doctoral program will end on August 28.

The Faculty of Management and International Communication was founded in 2001. The faculty trains specialists in international relations in the field of management, business communication, journalism, tourism, marketing and socio-cultural service. Faculty graduates are successfully working in the field of media and PR, have the knowledge and skills, necessary to work in the public and commercial, industrial enterprises and organizations in the centers for planning and organizing the electoral and political campaigns in the field of hospitality and tourism.
In 2001, the Faculty of Management and International Communication ( FMIC ) provided training in the field:
- International tourism (opened in 1994)
- Journalism

- Restaurant and Hotel business
- Public Relations

In 2002, the faculty successfully completed the work on an international project Tempus Tasis «SilkRoad -1 -10764-1999». Participants of the project developed an international educational master's program "Administration Business and Leisure" specialty "Tourism".

In 2009, she received the license for a master's educational program on specialty "Tourism" and Journalism.

Educational program "Tourism" has been successfully accredited by International Agency AQAS (2010).

During the 15 years of its existence the faculty of translation and philology became a leading educational center that train specialists in the fields of translation and intercultural communication as well as theory, practice and methodology of language and literature.

The dean of the faculty is Baglan Mizamkhan - Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Fulbright scholarship holder and “The Best Teacher of the year 2014”.

     The faculty is a vibrant scientific community which unites more than a thousand academic individuals (100 teachers and 1000 students) taking an active role in the activities and development of the faculty. One of our old traditions is the unity of the team and early inclusion of students in research works.  We train professional specialists and researchers in the fields of translation studies and philological sciences with the knowledge of two foreign languages. The faculty has close ties with many of local and foreign universities, governmental and non-governmental organizations, publishers and translation agencies. High professional skills of the scholars and the teaching staff ensure high demand for our graduates.

     The concept of education which is being realized effectively by the faculty is evaluated positively by employers and justified by fast career growth of graduates who could prove their undeniable competitiveness in the labor market: our students possess a set of job related competences, and have a wide range of professional contacts.

The Faculty of Oriental Studies

Dear friends, we are glad to welcome you to the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazUIR&WL named after Abylai Khan! 

The Faculty of Oriental Studies is the largest center in Kazakhstan to train highly qualified specialists with knowledge of Oriental languages. The study of Oriental languages within the walls of the university dates back to 1993, the XX century. Today's Faculty of Oriental Studies is a recognized center of Kazakhstan's Oriental studies, where highly qualified teaching staff work, an interesting and creative educational process is carried out, as well as scientific research.

The curriculum of undergraduate educational programs includes disciplines in the specialty and general Oriental Studies subjects. Students are also engaged in project and research work aimed at obtaining both research and practical skills.
The faculty teaches 6 oriental languages: Arabic, Persian, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, and Japanese, as well as a western language: English. Among the teachers, there are native speakers of every major oriental language studied.
Bachelors can go on an internship at foreign partner universities and take part in winter and summer schools. KazUMOiWL cooperates with universities in China, Japan, South Korea, and the Middle East.
The uniqueness of the master's educational program "Oriental Studies" is that it combines the best traditions of the Kazakh oriental school with the latest achievements of the science of the East and socio-humanitarian knowledge in general. These are unique specialists who, along with an Oriental education, have one more, and sometimes two related specialties. They teach in the Oriental Studies master program, which announces its ninth intake in the 2022-2023 academic year. The program is aimed at training modern multicultural specialists. Training is conducted in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese and other foreign languages.
A distinctive feature that characterizes the content of the training is the relationship between theoretical training, socio-practical knowledge, and the skills of expert-analytical, project, and consulting work.
Graduates have the opportunity to receive additional specializations. The first specialization is Critical Media and Political Studies. This specialization is interdisciplinary, forming critical research and analytical skills. Master students will discuss and analyze modern society, and the challenges and threats of hybrid war, giving examples from the field of various media, such as the media, cinema, television, and other media platforms. The specialization is designed for those who want to succeed in politics or public service. The second specialization is "Theory and practice of management in the countries of foreign Asia". The specialization is intended for those who plan to build their future career related to Asian countries in Kazakhstan or international companies, to create their own business in their country or abroad.
In general, the need to prepare bachelor's and master's students is dictated by the demand for specialists in Oriental Studies who know the history, economy, political system, and culture of the countries of the East in the context of globalization.

         The aim of the educational activities of pedagogical faculty of foreign languages is to ensure international adequate quality of professional training for the spectrum of educational and humanitarian spheres of cooperation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the modern world, and improving the quality of students and graduates of a new type of support for high competence and a high level of competitiveness in today's society.
         Faculty prepares bachelors, masters and doctors (PhD) in the specialty "Foreign language: two foreign languages."
         In connection with the modernization of foreign language teaching, within which the training of foreign language teachers is carried out, methodological platform and content of teacher training are updated, new learning technologies are implemented, and professional competence model is developed.
         Faculty has taken the first place in the national rankings in the specialty "Foreign language: two foreign languages " for the past three years. Specialty "Foreign language : two foreign languages " is accredited by the International Accreditation Agency AQAS ( Germany, 2012.). About 1500 students, including foreign students from near and far abroad are trained at the faculty.
         Students of teaching training department are provided training for academic mobility in foreign universities such as the University of Bamberg (Germany), University of Lanzhou (China), Pussansky University of Foreign Studies (South Korea) , National University Chunbuk (South Korea) , University Chunan (South Korea) , University Kebangsan (Malaysia), etc.

Academic Integrity Rules

The main feature of the contemporary reality of vocational education is a sharp increase in the requirements of the social life to the need for full disclosure of the creative potential of the future specialist, increase of personal responsibility for social implementing their own purpose and recognition, as well as solutions of specific problems.

Development of integration processes in the field of education imposes new demands on the quality of training specialists, competitive on the domestic and international labor markets. The result - in the first place there is such a qualitative characteristic of university studies as the relevance of the acquired competences, in other words the competitiveness of graduates.

KazUIR & WL named after Ablai Khan - recognized in the Kazakhstan higher education as versatile educational institution, specializing in training specialists of humanitarian foreign language and international profile, with seventy-year history of traditions, sends it to its graduates from generation to generation. The University is proud of more than one generation of scientists, teachers and students who have made a worthy contribution to the development of science and education, culture and social and political life of the state.

Today, there are about 5.5 million people training at the university. The level of requirements to knowledge, skills and abilities of students is provided by highly qualified teaching staff, including 8 academicians, 59 doctors of sciences, including 9 PhD, 159 candidates of sciences.

Taking into account the needs and abilities of the individual training in KazUIR & WL is conducted on full-time, part-time (after college), evening (second higher education) courses.

The University carries out training of specialists with higher professional education by training educational and professional programs various in content and duration of study:

  • Higher basic education, implemented in the bachelor study
  • Higher scientific and pedagogical education, implemented in the master study
  • Higher Special Education

The content of educational programs of higher education is established by state general educational standards of higher education and is realized through the working curricula and programs developed by universities.

The working curriculum takes into account the increasing role of independent work as one of the factors that promote the professional growth of the students and raise their creative activity. Working curriculum in all areas of training and specialties provide the required number of classroom hours.

Disciplines of working curricula are provided with working training programs, necessary educational-and-methodological literature.

Educational and methodological support of the educational process – textbooks, manuals, educational developments – is focused on the creation of favorable conditions for students for their productive individual activity.

In the educational process there are being tested and implemented advanced forms and modern technologies of education, affecting the quality and effectiveness: information technology, including distance education technology, active learning methods, the score-rating intensive technology of modular training, test methods and evaluation of the quality of training specialists.

The educational process is equipped with the necessary material and technical base. Computer park - 705 computers, 8 servers. Unified information intranet, system of open terminaals in educational buildings, unified electronic library system. Language labs, computer labs, classrooms, equipped with the necessary equipment, accompanying the learning process, assembly and conference halls, where studying also contributes to the development of professional competencies, implementation of creative abilities of students.

For sports fans there is functioning sports complex, which includes 7 halls. 15 sports sections make the educational process more interesting.

University has all conditions not only for quality education of students, but also for the development of a conscious responsible attitude of students to the opportunities and prospects for their professional, cultural and moral identity.
