On 06.07.2024, His Excellency Mr. Didier Canesse, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid an official visit to the Kazakh Ablai Khan UIR&WL. During the meeting, Chairman of the Board-Rector Salima Sagievna Kunanbayeva and Mr. Didier Canesse discussed a number of important issues in the field of education, as well as further cooperation in the field of training French language specialists.
Mr. Didier Canesse noted that currently more than 50 projects in the field of education and science are being implemented in Kazakhstan with French universities. Today, it is planned to create a Kazakh-French methodological center that will unite all the initiatives of scientists both in Kazakhstan and in the French Republic. It is planned to build schools in Kazakhstan with instruction in 4 languages: Kazakh, French, English and Russian.
Chairman of the Board-Rector Salima Sagievna Kunanbayeva indicated that today more than 200 students are studying French at the university. The rector initiated the training of translators from French into Kazakh and Russian, which definitely demonstrates the university’s commitment to popularizing the language among our citizens, increasing partnerships with French universities and building research potential.
Salima Sagievna noted that the department of theory and practice of the French language was created at the university in 2020, demonstrating success in training young specialists, students who have repeatedly become winners of republican Olympiads and international competitions in the French language, recipients of scholarships and grants from universities of France, as well as graduates who clearly demonstrate successes noted at a high state level.
Mr. Didier Canesse got acquainted with the activities of the French language resource center, and also attended an open lesson with student translators.
We are confident that the visit of His Excellency Mr. Didier Canesse will be the starting point in the resumption of close partnership relations between the Kazakh Ablai Khan UIR&WL and the Embassy of the French Republic.
