How translation, philology, and business intertwine on the path to success – insights from professionals.

On April 11, 2025, a significant meeting organized by the Chair of Foreign languages speech practice took place within the walls of our university, bringing together current students and distinguished alumni of KazUIR&WL. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the real world of professions related to languages, culture, and business, gaining firsthand knowledge and inspiration.
The speakers of the meeting were professionals whose career is a vivid example of the successful application of knowledge gained at KazUIR&WL:
Mameizov Khusain Idrisovich – Head of “TOPORT” LLP, translator of English and Chinese.

Baimusina Zarina – Head of the “International Club of Abai” Publishing department, Founder of the popular Kazakh speaking club “Aittym Salem!” and Co-founder of the “Agyn” private Kazakh theater.

The alumni shared their rich and multifaceted professional experience, covering the fields of translation, philology, and entrepreneurship. They not only spoke about their achievements but also immersed the audience in the world of real professional challenges. Students listened with great interest to stories about how the speakers had to solve complex and non-standard tasks, overcome difficulties in the workflow.
Special attention was paid to the intricacies of translation activities. Mameizov Khusain and Baimusina Zarina demonstrated with specific examples the importance of understanding cultural characteristics and context when working with languages. In addition, the speakers shared amusing, curious cases from their practice, which clearly showed that the work of a translator and philologist is full of not only challenges but also unexpected, sometimes comical situations.
Furthermore, the speakers touched upon topics relevant to students:
- Study Abroad Opportunities: Alumni shared their vision of the value of international experience and talked about programs and internships that may be available to KazUIR&WL students.
- Career Prospects: Real career paths for specialists with language education in modern Kazakhstan and beyond were discussed, including opportunities in business, publishing, cultural projects, and international cooperation.
The meeting was held in a warm and interactive atmosphere. Students actively asked questions, inquired about the details of building a career, the secrets of successful negotiations, and advice on professional development.
This event became another confirmation of the close ties between KazUIR&WL and its alumni, and the importance of the continuity of experience. The success stories of Mameizov Khusain and Baimusina Zarina, their openness, and willingness to share knowledge served as a powerful source of motivation for future specialists.
