Every year, the Faculty of Translation and Philology at the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages conducts a cultural exchange program aimed at fostering intercultural communication and enhancing students’ language skills. This initiative is implemented within the framework of international cooperation and contributes to strengthening academic ties between Kazakhstan and the United States.

From May 25 to June 12, 2026, the Faculty of Translation and Philology hosted another cultural exchange program involving students from Iowa State University (USA) and American volunteers as part of its collaboration with the Global Student Network (GSN).
During the program, the American students became acquainted with the culture, traditions, and educational system of Kazakhstan, while Kazakh students had the opportunity to improve their spoken English through participation in interactive sessions and discussions with native speakers. The topics covered during the meetings included a wide range of contemporary issues, such as celebrities, the use of phrasal verbs, advertising, goal setting, peacemaking, overcoming fears, professional activities, and the development of positive habits.
The program contributed to the development of intercultural communication, broadened the participants’ perspectives, and fostered lasting friendships among representatives of different countries. Through open dialogue and collaborative engagement, the project made a significant contribution to strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States, while also creating favorable conditions for the practical use of English in an authentic communicative environment.
