Sustainable Development Goals: Last Decade of Action

April 12 – 14, Kazakh Ablai khan UIR&WL  hosted the annual International Model United Nations Conference. The agenda of this year was "Sustainable Development Goals: Last Decade of Action".

At the official opening ceremony, an official speech was made by the Vice-Rector for youth policy of Kazakh Ablai khan UIR&WL– T.V. Seryozhkina, Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Almaty – Vlastimil Samek, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Almaty – Abror Fathullayev, Vice Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in Almaty – Gulzat Abdurasulova; UN Security Advisor for Kazakhstan – Justin Rashid and Associated Professor of Astana International University – Axamal Isalieva.

The meetings were held in three committees in English:

UNEP: Building Biodiversity - The Natural Resource Management Approach for last decade (SDG #15)

UNHRC: The Right to Privacy in a Digital Age (SDG #16)

ECOSOC: Business action: enhancing business contribution for SDG's (SDG #17).

The delegates of the International Model of the United Nations were students of our University, SDU, KIMEP, Astana International University, students of the NIS schools of Almaty and Pavlodar, as well as students of advanced educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Also, within the framework of the conference, a workshop on development of leadership and research skills was held, the speakers of which were Mira Maulsharif and Bagdat Akbiyeva.
