Irreparable loss An outstanding scientist of Kazakhstan passed away Professor of KazUIR&WL Galiev Anuar Abitaevich

At the age of 63, an outstanding Kazakh scientist Galiev Anuar Abitaevich, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Postgraduate Education of KazUMO and WL named after Abylai Khan, passed away. His scientific work has received worldwide recognition. Anua Abitaevich was a member of the International Advisory Board of the Academy of Cultural Heritage (Helsinki, Finland), a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for Semiotic Studies, a member of the editorial boards of: American Index for Central Asian Scholarship (USA), Altaic Studies (Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences), Cultural Values (Rome - St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Philology, Russia), Xabar (Baku Slavic University, Azerbaijan). Participant of international conferences in the USA, Japan, Finland, Hungary, France, Turkey, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran.

As a visiting professor, he had been teaching at the summer universities of the Central European University in Budapest (2001, 2004), Almaty and Bishkek (2007-2011), winter and summer schools on semiotics at the University of Helsinki (2009, 2013). Member of the editorial boards of the journals "American Index for Central Asian Researchers" (USA), "Cultural Values" (Rome-St. Petersburg State University), "Altaistic Research" (Moscow, RAS), "Xabar" and "Elm" (Azerbaijan).

He is the author of more than 300 scientific papers. His main scientific interests include the philosophy of history, social and cultural anthropology, and ethno-semiotics. He was the author of the following monographs and textbooks: "The traditional worldview of the Kazakhs", "The mythologized history of the Turkic-speaking peoples from ancient times to the present day", "Symbols and signs of the Great Steppe (the history of the culture of ancient nomads)" (co-authored with V.S. Uarziati) , “Kazakh Khanate: structure, extra-image and symbolic aspect”, “Ethnic semiotics of Koreans”, “Ideology in the theory and practice of state and nation-building in the modern East” (co-author) and others. Author and co-author of a number of textbooks and training materials. Anuar Galiev has published papers in the USA, Australia, Japan, Germany, Hungary, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Iran, Turkey, India, Mongolia, Russia, Ichkeria, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Eleven of his publications published in journals included in the Scopus and WoS databases. Author of popular science books: "Mode-Kagan", "Genghis Khan", "Tomiris", "Dzhanibek and Kerey", "Kenesary", "Great Battles of Nomads".

The entire work biography of the scientist and the talented educator, is inextricably linked with the formation of Kazakh science, the creation of Kazakhstani ethnosemiotics. In KazUIR&WL named after Abylai Khan, Anuar Abitaevich created his own scientific school “Kazakhstani dimension of modern oriental studies”. Anuar Abitaevich had developed such interesting training courses for graduate students in oriental studies as "Models of the world and society of the people of Asia", "Culture of everyday life in the East", "Information warfare and collective memory in the modern East", "Kazakh dimension of modern oriental studies" and others. He supervised doctoral dissertations, graduated masters of human science in this area, his students continue his scientific research in Kazakhstani and foreign research institutes and leading higher educational institutions. He participated in the development of several scientific projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a supervisor and research scientist. He was a member of the Scientific and Humanitarian Council, a member of the Editorial Council “Izvestia of KazUIR&WL. Series "International Relations and Regional Studies". On behalf of our university, he often spoke with topical issues on television programs.

Anuar Abitaevich lived a bright and dignified life, was a man of brilliant intellect and great erudition. He impressed us with his strong character and lot of sense in scientific disputes. A perfect combination of natural abilities, creative activity, amazing productivity, academic decency, high professionalism and tireless work on himself allowed him to fulfil his creative and professional potential. It is safe to say that the name of Professor Galiyev Anuar Abitayevich, whose achievements in the preparation of specialists of the new formation can hardly be overestimated, will rightly be written in gold lettering in the annals of the social and humanitarian education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This is a great loss for relatives, friends, for Kazakh science. Anuar Abitaevich is no longer with us. However, his richest scientific heritage remained students who will continue the work of their mentor. There is a fond memory of this bright, spiritually generous person. We convey sincere condolences, words of sympathy to relatives, friends, and colleagues, everyone who knew and respected Galiyev Anuar Abitaevich.
