The Faculty of Oriental Studies held a country studies competition «Basics of China Studies»

As part of the celebration of the Republic Day and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, the Department of Oriental Studies jointly with the Confucius Institute held a regional studies competition on the topic " Basics of Chinese Studies".

 

2-4th year students of the educational programs "Oriental Studies", "Translation" and "Foreign Philology" took part in the competition. The purpose of the competition is to increase the level of language knowledge of students, increase their creative abilities. Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies – Candidate of Political Sciences, Professor Kagazbayeva E.M. made a welcoming speech.

The jury consisted of c.ph.s., Associate Professor Dzheldybayeva R.B., Professor Shi Longwei, c.h.s,, Associate Professor Omarova M.A., PhD Dauen D.B. and PhD Mellat D.

The competition was interesting and informative. At the first stage of the competition, an intellectual quiz was held, participation in which allowed to identify the most erudite students who are able to quickly and correctly answer questions from various fields – culture, sports, art, etc. At the second stage, the guys had the opportunity to make themselves known by preparing a video presentation as a homework assignment.

According to the results of the competition, Kurbanova Arailym took the first place. Otelbay Ayazhan and Kazybek Zhanerke took the second place. Kaziyeva Gulbanu, Togyzbay Kamila and Dauletbek Bagzhan took the third place.

The competition was held with the support and sponsorship of the Confucius Institute at Kazakh Abylai Khan UIR&WL.
