The annual International Model UN Conference took place at our university on November 23-24. The opening ceremony was attended by the Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications - Vlastimil Samek, Deputy Counselor for Press, Culture and Education of the U.S. Consulate General - Chad Kinner, Head of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Almaty - Bulegenov Bakytzhan Ergalievich.
Conference sessions were held in the official languages of the United Nations. Three committees of the Model UN actively discussed and debated such topics as: Youth for Disarmament (General Assembly), Investing in Safe Routes to Migration (United Nations Development Program), and Women, Peace and Security (Security Council). Delegates to the Model UN conference creatively presented their proposals and formed alliances. After fruitful discussions, participants reached consensus on resolutions whose paragraphs could help to keep the world secure in the future.
Delegates and the members of the Conference Board were represented by students from the Kazakh Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, the Suleyman Demirel University, the University of International Business, Turan, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (Almaty and Shymkent), the Haileybury Almaty, the Zaman School, and many others.
