26.11.2022 at the faculty of Oriental studies by the Center for Korean studies of Ablai Khan KazUIR and WL within the framework of the 4th Week of Korean Studies, timed to coincide with the anniversary date of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Pak Nelly, the 7th Conference of Young Scientists-Korean Studies of the CIS and the 12th Central Asian Olympiad in Korean Studies were organized and held, in which participation of students of Ablai Khan KazUIR and WL, Al-Farabi KazNU, Abai KazNPU , L.N.Gumilyov ENU, Nazarbayev University, Korkyt-ata Kyzylorda University , Korean Institute in Central Asia (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), Kyrgyz-Korean University (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), Bucheon University in Tashkent, Tashkent State University of World Languages (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Korea International University (Fergana, Uzbekistan), Hanguk University of Foreign Languages (Republic of Korea), Busan University of Foreign Studies (Republic of Korea), Chonbuk National University (Republic of Korea), etc.
In total, about 120 people took part in the events, incl. Korean studies students, leaders and representatives of organizations and companies-employers, teachers, research supervisors from 16 universities, 9 cities and 4 countries. All participants of the Olympiad demonstrated a high level of knowledge of the Korean language, making a speech on one of the three proposed topics: "friendship", "love" and "happiness". Before the jury, which included: Director of the Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan Mr. Kim Tae-Hwan, Chairman of the Board of Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan Mr. Cho Yong Eun, Partner Lawyer "BLJ Lawfirm" Mr. Lee Jae-wook , Vice-Chairman of the Board of "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" Mr. Kim Joseph, there was a difficult task - to choose the best of the best. According to the results of the 12th Central Asian Olympiad in Korean Studies, they adequately presented their universities and received well-deserved awards: 4 winners of incentive prizes, 3 winners of 3rd place, two of which were taken by 4th year students of Ablai Khan KazUIR and WL Usembaeva Ainura and Gazizova Ainamkoz, two owners of 2nd place. The Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages was adequately represented by the 4th year student of the program "Oriental Studies" Keunimzhaeva Zhansaya, who took the honorable 1st place and received the opportunity to study at language courses in Korea as a prize. This is a prize given annually by the Korea Foundation. A special prize was also allocated by the Association of Alumni of the Korean Branch of Ablai Khan KazUIR and WL, the owner of which was a 4th year student Usembayeva Ainura. The awards to all the winners of the Central Asian Olympiad in Korean Studies were presented by Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Pak Nelly, on the anniversary date of which the 4th Week of Korean Studies was timed. The successful holding of the Week of Korean Studies was made possible thanks to the support of the Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan, the Association of South Korean Companies in Kazakhstan, the State Republican Academic Korean Theatre, the Association of Alumni of the Korean Branch of Ablai Khan KazUIR and WL, the Korea Foundation, and the Academy of Korean Studies of the Republic of Korea.
