Chinese Culture Week

As part of the "Week of Chinese Culture" at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, events were held: "Tea Ceremony in China" and "Tastes of the Celestial Empire".

The "Tea Ceremony in China", held on February 13, 2023 by the Department of Oriental Philology, was organized by students of the Chinese language department of the educational program "Foreign Philology" under the guidance of senior lecturer Rayikhan B. This event was attended by the dean of the faculty Kagazbayeva E.M., the head of the Department of Oriental Philology Burkitbay G. Zh., teachers of the faculty and students of the Chinese language department.

The Chinese tea ceremony is a special philosophy and culture that originated in ancient times. According to ancient traditions, the tea ceremony allows you to achieve harmony, peace and good health. In this regard, after treating the guests with Chinese fortune cookies before the start of the event, the students spoke in detail about the history of Chinese tea, shared legends about tea, told interesting facts and held a small tea ceremony for the guests. Students showed their knowledge of Chinese and showed interest in Chinese culture by actively answering quiz questions while playing games on the kahoot online platform.

On February 22, 2023, under the guidance of the candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Kenzhebaeva A.A. and senior teacher of the Chinese language Mellat D., an event was held with the beautiful name "Tastes of the Celestial Empire". Guests and students came into contact with the ancient culture of China. The 3rd year students of the educational program "Foreign Philology" of the Faculty of Oriental Studies showed not only a high level of knowledge of the Chinese language, but also excellent knowledge of the centuries-old history, customs and culture of the Celestial Empire. Students Shevtsova F., Kulmagambetova A. and Kozina A. pleasantly surprised the guests with their culinary skills and deliciously served the dishes "Gongbao Qiji" and "Dapanji", "Peking Duck", telling about their origin and regional features of each dish. Plunging into the world of taste sensations of various Chinese dishes, the students managed to create a special aura during the tea ceremony of China, which is rooted in the culture of the Celestial Empire. They also sang a touching song in Chinese, and read the classic works of Tang authors in the original language.

The purpose of the Chinese Culture Week is to familiarize guests and students with Chinese customs and eating habits, as well as to expand the understanding of culinary traditions, increase cognitive activity and unleash the creative abilities of the event participants.
