On March 14-15, 2023, teachers of the Department of Professional Foreign Language (Economic and Legal Direction) organized and held a subject Olympiad in professional foreign language among students 3 courses studying in the direction "6B041 - Business and Management" and "6B042 - Law". Students took an active part in the Olympiad and were able to demonstrate their professional knowledge and skills in not just a foreign language, but a professional foreign language.
The students of the language groups were divided into teams. Each team consisted of five participants. 4 teams were formed in the legal direction, 7 teams in the economic direction. The Olympiad for each direction was held on separate days.
The tasks prepared for the participants of the Olympiad were diverse both in content and in the way they were performed.
The Olympiad was held in three rounds:
The 1st round included a quiz. The quiz itself consisted of two tasks: the first - the participants had to answer three questions on the topic of professional activity; second, the students had to voice the definition of two terms used in their professional practice.
The 2nd round included two competitive tests: solving a simulated problem situation in the context of professional activity, presented in the form of a case (10 minutes) and a public presentation of the case solution by each team (5 minutes).
The 3rd round, organized for students of the legal direction, assumed a business simulation game in the form of a simulation of a trial with elements of theatricalization for a given situation of a criminal law nature.
The participants of the Olympiad who showed the best results (high level of proficiency in a professional foreign language, good critical thinking skills and creative approach to completing tasks) won prizes and were awarded diplomas of I, II and III degrees.
