Ceremonial Meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On March 6, 2024, at the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, hosted a prestigious event in a hybrid format, attended by 70 leading female scientists of the country.

In his welcoming address, President of the National Academy of Sciences, A. Kurishbaev, highlighted that approximately 60 percent of scientists in the field of science are women. He announced the establishment of the Nailya Urazgulovna Bazanova Medal by the National Academy of Sciences, named after the first female academician in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Nailya Urazgulovna Bazanova, renowned as a distinguished physiologist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor, and Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, serves as a symbol of excellence. This medal will be exclusively awarded to female scientists in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the advancement of science in Kazakhstan.

During the ceremony, participants were honored with Certificates of Distinction from the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them was Saule Zhumazhanovna Bayandina, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Ablai Khan, in recognition of her remarkable accomplishments in the realms of science and education.
