Teacher: dream profession or calling in life

On March 11, 2024, a round table “Teacher: dream profession or calling in life” was held at the Pedagogical Faculty of Foreign Languages, which was attended by 4th year students of the specialty “Teacher of Two Foreign Languages”. At the event, organized by Almashova Kamila Askarkyzy, Master of Pedagogical Sciences of the department of “Methodology of Foreign Language Education”, students exchanged experiences acquired during pre-diploma pedagogical practice and emphasized the significant role of pedagogical practice in their professional development as future teachers, preparing a video presentation reflecting teaching activities at school.

The participants discussed about positive impressions of working as an English teacher at school, about difficulties that may arise during pedagogical practice and ways to overcome them, and stressed that pedagogical practice is a very substantial stage that contributes to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for further high-quality educational activities. Students noted that they learned to make lessons effective and interesting, find an individual approach to students and cope with atypical situations.

In conclusion, all participants came to the conclusion that teacher is more than a profession. A teacher teaches, educates, and develops a person. A teacher is a profession and a calling. Anyone can become a teacher, but not everyone can fully devote themselves to this profession.
