The festival "Oriental fest 2024" is a cultural event aimed at attracting future applicants to the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The festival is held annually by the Faculty of Oriental Studies with the support of the Center for Korean Studies and the Confucius Institute at KazUIR&WL named after Abylai khan. This year, due to floods in the Western part of Kazakhstan, the event was held at the faculty level. The purpose of the event was to enrich the national arts of the countries of the East, to form the interests of various ethnic groups.
To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set:
- fostering a culture of interethnic communication and respect for the cultures of other peoples;
- stimulating interest in the study of multinational cultural heritage;
- popularization of traditional dishes, national games, sports and dance arts of the countries of the East.
The event consisted of two parts, the first part was a concert, the second part was an oriental fair. The concert part began with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Elmira Maratovna. In the concert part, the students presented the national dances of five eastern countries, such as China, Korea, Turkey, Japan, Arab countries, played national instruments, and also performed a faculty song. In the second part of the program, the guests were able to taste various types of national dishes of the countries of the East and get acquainted with the peculiarities of the dishes.
