In order to assess the level of mastery of foreign language intercultural communicative competence of students and to reveal their intellectual and creative abilities, on April 15-16, 2024, teachers of the Department of Professional Foreign Language of International Interaction organized and held the competition “Best Original Screenplay” in a foreign language among 1st year students of the educational programs “6B03101–International Relations”, “6B04202 – International Law”, “6B04101 – International Business”, “6B04201- Jurisprudence”. The event was dedicated to Science Day.
The main objectives of the competition were:
- to identify the level of development of foreign language intercultural competence and communication skills among students through constructing dialogic and monologic speech in various real-life communicative situations.
- to develop intellectual and creative abilities of students and increase motivation for further study of the English language;
- to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of students’ independent work and their interest in completing assignments on SIW and SIWT through the use of the dramatization method as an effective means of teaching a foreign language that promotes the development of linguistic, communication and creative skills in the social and everyday sphere of human life.
Students of different language groups were divided into teams. There were 3 teams formed in the economic and legal direction and 5 teams in international direction. The competition for each department was held on separate days.
The jury of the competition were: G.B. Noruzova – associate professor of the Department of Professional Foreign Language of International Interaction (PFLII), A.M. Karakulova – associate professor of the Department of PFLII, M.K. Adyrbekova – associate professor of the Department of PFLII, D.B. Mukatova – teacher at the Department of PFLII, A.V. Mamontova – teacher at the Department PFLII.
The participants of the competition who showed the best results (high level of foreign language proficiency, high lexical diversity on the topics covered, correct use of simple and complex grammatical structures, good critical thinking skills and a creative approach to completing tasks) got prize-winning places and were awarded I-, II-, and III-degree diplomas and nominations.

The foreign language competition was a formidable challenge for the students but still quite a productive event. The jury and the teachers who had organized the competition for our wonderful students received a lot of positive emotions, were impressed by the students and their knowledge of not only English and the material covered, but also by their enthusiasm, creativity and acting skills.
