From August 20 to 23, the Third Forum on Communication in Central Asia was held at the Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation, bringing together experts, scholars, and media representatives to discuss current issues in media and communications. The event, organized with the participation of leading news agencies and educational institutions, became an important platform for dialogue between the countries of Central Asia and China.
For two days, the forum participants discussed important topics related to the development of media in Central Asia, including the digital transformation of the media, the role of media in strengthening regional cooperation, and the impact of modern technologies on communication in the region. Special attention was given to challenges related to ensuring information security and sustainable media development in the context of globalization.
The forum was attended by the faculty of the Department of International Communication. They shared their expertise in the field of international communications and presented reports and research on contemporary challenges in the media sector.

Olga Yakovlevna Kim, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of International Communications, who delivered a presentation on symbolism in Kazakhstani image media texts. In her speech, she explored the role and significance of symbols in shaping Kazakhstan's national image through media channels, emphasizing the importance of considering cultural characteristics and traditions when creating content aimed at regional and international audiences.
Tatyana Vasilyevna Shevyakova, Professor of the Department of International Communications, presented a study on mass communication in the process of evolving public consciousness in modern Kazakhstan. In her report, she highlighted how mass media influence the formation and aspects of transformation of public opinion in Kazakhstan.
Madina Serikbekovna Ashilova, Associate Professor, delivered a presentation addressing the problem of disinformation on social media. In her speech, she emphasized the growing threat of disinformation and fake news in the digital space, highlighting the need to develop strategies to combat these issues and to enhance media literacy among the population.
Aigul Ermuhamedovna Kudiyarova, Master’s degree holder and Lecturer, presented a report on the current state of the media in Kazakhstan. In her presentation, she analyzed the current position of the media industry in the country, examining key trends and challenges faced by Kazakhstani media.
Third Forum on Communication Issues in Central Asia was a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the Central Asian region and China, opening up new prospects for the development of media and communication in the face of global challenges and changes in the modern world.
