On January 16, 2025, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages held a round table on the theme: "Artificial Intelligence: A Boon or a Threat?" The purpose of the round table was to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on various aspects of human life and society, identify potential risks and benefits, and formulate proposals for the safe and effective implementation of AI.
This event was attended by the Vice-Rector for Educational and Methodological Work of our university, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kulgildinova T.A. Additionally, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Zhusubalieva D.M., delivered a congratulatory speech.
Representatives from our university and other universities in Almaty also attended and presented their reports. In particular:
Serbin Vasily Valeryevich, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor at Kazakh National Research Technical University, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity, Information Processing and Storage (https://satbayev.university ), presented the report "Use of Artificial Intelligence in Universities: Advantages and Disadvantages."
Madina Yessimkhanovna Mansurova, Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor (https://farabi.university ), delivered the report "Artificial Intelligence in the Kazakh Language: New Horizons for the Development of Models and Interactive Customization.”
Koldas Marzhan, 2nd Year Doctoral Student at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Training Foreign Language Teachers (https://www.ablaikhan.kz/kz ), presented the report "Possibility of Artificial Intelligence in the Training of Future Translators.”
Rakhish Aigerim Yergalievna, 1st-Year Doctoral Student at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, specializing in Information Systems Security (https://farabi.university ), delivered the report "Impact of Artificial Intelligence on State Infrastructure: Opportunities and Risks.”
Lukpanov Arystan, 2nd-Year Master's Student at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Training Foreign Language Teachers (https://www.ablaikhan.kz/kz ), presented the report "Use of Foreign Languages in the Study of Foreign Languages.”
Tashkyn Erkan, Dr. PhD, Head of the ICT Department at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages (https://www.ablaikhan.kz/kz ), delivered the report "Global Perspectives of Educators: Solving Problems and Developing Strategies for AI in Education.”
Asankhodzhaeva Irsay, 1st-Year Doctoral Student at Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Training Foreign Language Teachers (https://www.ablaikhan.kz/kz ), presented the report "Use of AI for the Development of Linguistic Competencies.”
Yeskendirova Damelya Maksutovna, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor in the Department of Cybersecurity at IITU (https://iitu.edu.kz/ru ), shared her insights with the report "Operational Engineering and Its Importance of Soft Skills in the Future.”
During the round table, the teachers exchanged mutually beneficial experiences. The scientists discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on society, emphasizing that this technology represents both a significant achievement and a considerable responsibility for humankind. Not only do we have the opportunity to unlock endless possibilities in everyday life, but we must also remember that this progress carries inherent dangers.
Our main task is to preserve ethical principles in the use of AI, prevent its misuse, and protect social equality. In this regard, if we can consider the interests of humanity at every step and direct AI towards benefiting humanity, it will be key to our bright future.

Dzhusubalieva Dina Muftahovna, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor(https://www.ablaikhan.kz/kz ): The head of the Department at Kazakh National Technical Research University, Serbin V.V., delivered a very detailed report on the application of artificial intelligence, discussing its advantages and disadvantages in universities. In his speech, he noted how artificial intelligence helps improve the quality of education, the challenges and risks that may arise, and how to avoid them. The presentation by Farabi Mansurova M.E., Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, was also very interesting. His report focused on the use of artificial intelligence in the Kazakh language, the creation of models, and the interaction of artificial intelligence capabilities. Iskandirova D.M., Head of the Cybersecurity Department at MUIT, presented a report titled "Prompt Engineering and Its Role in Future 'Soft Skills'," which attracted great interest. Our doctoral students and undergraduates also delivered detailed reports on the use of artificial intelligence in studying English, translation, and developing competencies in foreign languages. During the round table, there were discussions, exchanges of views, and questions on various interesting topics. The round table was engaging, and all participants agreed on the need to exchange experiences in using artificial intelligence as one of the most important and modern trends in education.
Saltanat Almukhamedovna Adilzhanova, Associate Professor, Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (https://farabi.university ): The participants discussed the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence in education and potential prospects for its development. They noted that using AI in education opens up new opportunities for the educational environment. However, it is essential to keep ethics and safety in mind when implementing AI. The round table was meaningful and interesting. I am confident that all participants gained valuable knowledge and experience!
