The elective course “One Asia - One World”, sponsored with an educational grant by the Japanese fund “Eurasia Foundation”, successfully continues its work on the basis of the University.

    The Faculty of International Relations successfully continues conducting weekly online lectures by leading foreign and Kazakhstani scientists as a part of the elective course “One Asia - One World”.

    On February 12, 2021, the University hosted an online guest lecture by Professor Myong Soon-ok from the Republic of Korea on the topic “Oneness in the context of the Asian Community”. The coordinator of the UNITED ASIAN COMMUNITY Project, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Candidate of philosophical sciences, Associate Professor Khairullayeva V.Kh. introduced the lecturer to the audience and noted the importance of her cultural and anthropological research in the field of science and education. Professor Myong Soon-ok, Doctor of Anthropology from the University of Seoul, is a leading specialist in the field of cultural anthropology in Asia, and at the same time is a professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

    In her lecture, Professor Myong Soon-ok noted the long-standing close cooperation and strong good ties between our countries and expressed confidence in the successful development of economic, political, cultural relations in the future on the continent of Eurasia. The speaker said: “It is nice that Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages, one of the oldest universities in Kazakhstan, plays an important role in the formation of strong stable ties between the peoples of Asia and Eurasia. The elective course plays an important role for the development of academic cooperation between Asian countries, and we are ready for scientific cooperation and are open for training citizens of Kazakhstan both in higher education programs and in additional and advanced training programs.”

    During the lecture, Professor Myong Soon-ok switched to a lively dialogue and discussion with students and undergraduates in English of various cultural and life issues, periodically emphasizing the need for the seamless development of a single educational, sport and cultural space in Asia, which will maintain and deepen relations between the people of Eurasia.

    On February 19, a well-known public figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Narxoz University Kan Georgy Vasilyevich held a guest online lecture. Introducing Professor Kan G.V., the Head of the UNITED ASIAN COMMUNITY Project, Professor Aidarbekov Z. S., especially noted that Georgy Vasilyevich is the author of many textbooks on the history of Kazakhstan, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, his books have been translated into many languages.

    The topic of the lecture “Central Asia in the context of the Eurasian community” aroused great interest among students of international affairs, regional studies, orientalists, journalists, etc. One of the priority directions of Kazakhstani foreign policy is deepening cooperation with the countries of Central Asia. During the lecture, the acute issues of the Central Asia region, the challenges and threats of the modern world, the pandemic and its impact on the world around us, as well as sustainable development and global security problems in Asia and Eurasia were discussed. During the lecture, Professor Kan periodically highlighted that we are not just neighbors and fraternal people, we are strategic partners and allies. The topic of the lecture was so interesting to the students and undergraduates that they did not want to let the lecturer go for a long time and asked many questions, not noticing how the two-hour lecture flew by.
