Online lecture course by professors from Japan, Spain and Finland within the framework of the Fund "Eurasia Foundation"

    Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has a planetary scale, the University hosts many events and the fact that the world is moving towards the economyщаknowledge is real. Today we would like to tell you about the features of the elective course “One Asia - One World”, which started on February 1 this year and issponsored with an educational grant by the Japanese fund“Eurasia Foundation”that shares the experience in the field of education in the age of digitalization, pandemic and its impact on the world around us.

    The mission of higher education institutions changes every year, along with the values ​​and aims of modern society, with the situation in the labor market and in the world. During these two months, students of our University have already listened to 6 lectures held by foreign and domestic professors on culture, education, religion and history of the countries of the Asian community, as well as on key issues of international relations and regional studies. The main mission of the Japanese “Eurasia Foundation” is the integration of universities as a long-term project, social interaction, information technology and the development of cooperation in the field of science, education and culture.

    As the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-ZhomartTokayev said: “High quality human capital is the basis for the long-term competitiveness of all states, including Kazakhstan. Today’s children and the youth will determine the labor market of Kazakhstan by 2050. The prosperity of the country in the future depends on their competitiveness. It is important to understand that being a young nation gives us long-term benefits. We need to use them correctly, to carry out consistent work on the development of human capital”.

       

    So, on February 26, 2021, Professor Chung Joonkon from Japan gave an excellent two-hour online lecture on the topic “Why Asian Community now?”. Professor Chung Joonkon is the Vice President of the “Eurasia Foundation” and a leading international relations expert. How will the world change in the coming decades? The modern world, characterized by instability, volatility, rapid change of values ​​and information, is forced to take a fresh look at the problem of education in the face of the challenges of our time. The lecturer explained that the reassessment of values ​​is happening everywhere and the transformation of education awaits us. At the same time, Professor Chung Joonkon especially noted the good knowledge of languages ​​and erudition of our students, as well as the consistency and high organization of the elective course at KazakhAblaikhan University of International Relations and World Languages.

    Professor Lopez-Varela Asuncion from Spain held a lecture on March 5, 2021. She spoke about the cultural socialization of young people in the context of the rapidity of innovative changes. Professor Lopez-Varela Asuncion is from Complutense University, ex-Rector of the Madrid State University, the editor of a scientific journal, a leading expert of the European Union. The topic of her lecture was “Intercultural communication and Asian Community”. She noted that education around the world is at least at a stage of major changes. The professor noted that at present, real changes in the teaching paradigm are needed, from the so-called competence-based approach it is necessary to move to a personality-oriented one. In the education system, there should be more trust between students and teachers, and not total control and accounting.

           

    On March 12 the lecture was held by Professor Salenius Sirpa from Finland on the topic “Gender in Eurasia”. Sirpa Salenius is a Professor at the University of Eastern Finland, the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Cultures. Since 2003, she has taught English and American literature at American universities as part of study abroad programs in Florence and Rome (Italy). In 2015-2016, she worked as a Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo, College of Arts and Sciences at the Centre for Global Communication Strategies. The field of research of Professor SirpaSaleniusfocuses on issues related to race, gender, and sexuality, from the nineteenth century to the present.

    In the lectures of foreign lecturers from Japan, Korea, Spain and Finland, a comparative analysis is given, prospects for the further development of the countries of the Asian community, the cultural socialization of young people in the context of the rapidity of innovative changes are considered. The conducted guest lectures aroused great interest and resonance among our listeners of the elective course, related to the formation of the Asian community in the near future. The acquired knowledge about the specifics and characteristics of the countries of the Asian community is useful for our students and contributes to the strengthening of a single Asian community, which the modern Kazakhstan is a part of.
