On November 5, in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the 80th anniversary of our university, as well as dedicated to the work of the great Kazakh poet and educator Abai Kunanbayev, by the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan, the Department of Oriental Languages and the Confucius Institute at KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan organized the finale of the competition "Expressive reading of words of edification and poems of Abai in Kazakh and Chinese languages" among students of universities in Almaty, studying in the Chinese language department.
The competition was held in an online format on the Microsoft teams platform, with the participation of students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, International College of the Kazakh-Chinese language.
The guests of the event were Mr. Shi Longwei, a professor at Southwest University (Southwestern University, Chongqing, China) and a graduate of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan Azim Sultanov, winner of the "Abay Readings 2018".
Welcoming remarks were made by the vice-rector for educational and social work of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan Serezhkina Tatiana Vladimirovna and the Consul of Culture and Education of the General Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Almaty Mr. Wang Qingping.
The event consisted of two parts, the second part of which was the reading of any work of Abai in Chinese. Each student spoke within 3-5 minutes and the jury determined the winners.
1st place was taken by a student of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai khan Abduali Feruza.
The winners of the 2nd place were students of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai khan Naurzbaeva Ayim and Tasgyn Ayman, and a student of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai Amankeldi Arna.
The winners of the 3rd place were students of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai khan Serikbay Aziza, Kyrykbaeva Asel, Bahytbekkyzy Aknur and a student of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Durbaev Ardak.
Also at the event the orchestra "Rukhani zhagyru" of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai khan performed with Kurmangazy's kyu "Erke sylym".
