Uniqueness of the Educational Program (Program Objective)

The purpose and objectives of the educational program:

Preparation of masters, multilingual, modern, competitive specialists-Orientalistswhospeak one of the Eastern and Western languages, who know the history, economy, politicsandculture of the region of specialization, able to carry out professional activities indifferent directions.

The uniqueness of the educational program “7M02211 – Oriental Studies (Scientific and Pedagogical Track)” lies in the availability of the specializations “Theory and Methodology of Economic Diplomacy of Eastern Countries” (micro-qualifications: researcher of economic diplomacy of Eastern countries, analyst of foreign economic strategies of Eastern states) and “Critical Media and Political Studies” (specialist: analyst of political media of Eastern countries, researcher of media discourses and political communication in the Eastern region).

The educational program is oriented toward modern educational technologies, global scientific and practical experience, and the integration of theoretical training with practical skills in expert-analytical, project-based, and consulting activities.

Instruction is delivered in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese, and other foreign languages. Teaching and academic supervision are provided by highly qualified faculty members, including Doctors of Sciences, Professors, Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors with extensive academic and pedagogical experience, as well as invited international scholars.

An additional advantage of the program is the involvement of master’s students in academic mobility programs at partner universities, including:

Peking University (PRC), Xinjiang Normal University (PRC), Lanzhou University (PRC), Wuhan University, Wuhan (PRC), Japanese Language University, Urawa (Japan), the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow (Russia), Ajou University (Republic of Korea), and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Republic of Korea).

Education is provided on a state-funded basis (government grants) as well as on a tuition-fee basis.

Graduates may pursue careers in research and academic institutions, conducting analyses of theoretical and applied issues related to the development of Eastern countries. They may also work in expert and analytical sectors, preparing analytical reports and forecasts on socio-political, economic, and cultural processes in Eastern regions.

Proficiency in Eastern languages enables graduates to work as experts, analysts, and translators in governmental, international, and private organizations, as well as to participate in academic editorial and publishing activities and in the media sector.
