"Korean Peninsula: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow"

On 20.01.2023  Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages is holding the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Korean Peninsula: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow", which is aimed to  discuss hot topic of the day in the format of an open dialogue within the framework of the established anniversary years of diplomatic relations between the PRC-Republic of Korea (30 years) and the United States-Korea (140 years). Within the framework of the conference, a series of online lectures and master classes dedicated to the topics of the conference will be held by leading world scientists for students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the specialties: International Relations, Regional Studies, Oriental Studies.

We invite scientists, researchers, experts, teachers, students, undergraduates, doctoral students and all interested persons to take part in the given event.

Conference Concept:

In 2023, there will take place the 70th anniversary of the official ending the war on the Korean Peninsula. Despite the fact that the "hot" war took place only a few years and the sounds of hostilities have not been heard for a long time, every day the Koreans, waking up on the peninsula, fear that the horrors of 1950-1953 may take place again. The reason for this is the geopolitical confrontation between the United States and China, which is reflected in modern Republic of Korea. In addition, the “Korean Issue” remains unresolved, which also affects the policy pursued by South Korea. The problems of Korea are not often discussed in the Kazakhstani scientific community. It should be noted that a significant Korean diaspora lives in Kazakhstan. This conference will lay a good foundation for the development of scientific research on international relations in Korea. As a free discussion, exchange of opinions in the context of "brainstorming" of international experts involves the search for new ways to resolve the issue.

The purpose of the Conference: discussion of topical issues of the Korean Peninsula in the context of the historical past, current state and prospects in a transforming world.

The main directions of the Conference:

  1. China-USA-South Korea Triangle: A Historical View
  2. Relations: PRC - South Korea
