From October 20 to 24, 2025, Ablai Khan University hosted the traditional “Ұлттық диктант” (National Dictation), organized at the initiative of the International Society of the Kazakh Language within the framework of the national project “Ұлттық диктант.” This event became an important milestone in the educational and cultural life of the university, aimed at supporting and promoting the Kazakh language as an integral part of national identity.
The main goal of the dictation is to foster a culture of literacy in the state language, improve knowledge of spelling and punctuation norms, and comprehensively promote and strengthen the status of the Kazakh language in society. The dictation encourages respect for linguistic traditions and nurtures students’ and university staff’s interest in their native language.
The event was organized by the Department of Kazakh Philology, which provided methodological and organizational support. The department’s instructors prepared texts reflecting contemporary realities and the cultural values of Kazakhstan and conducted explanatory work with the participants. Students from various faculties, as well as academic and administrative staff, took part in the dictation, demonstrating the significance of the initiative as a unifying cause for everyone who values and develops the state language.
The results of the dictation reflected a high level of interest in the project and reaffirmed the importance of such initiatives in fostering a literate, linguistically competent, and culturally aware young generation.
