Key center of foreign language and international education in the Republic of Kazakhstan
Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages is a leading specialized university in Kazakhstan in the fields of foreign language, humanities and international education. Founded in 1941 as a specialized Institute of Foreign Languages, the University has, for decades, shaped the intellectual and linguistic infrastructure of the country, maintaining academic continuity while strengthening its international presence.
Today, the University represents a stable academic center that combines the strong foundations of the humanities tradition with modern management approaches. Its core specialization is built upon a deep concentration of expertise in foreign language education, linguistics, translation studies, international relations, regional studies, international communications and humanitarian analytics. Instruction is provided in 10 foreign languages, creating a unique educational environment and ensuring a high level of intercultural integration.
The University structure includes five faculties:
- Pedagogical faculty of foreign languages
- Faculty of translation and philology
- Faculty of management and international communications
- Faculty of international relations, law and business
- Faculty of oriental studies
The University implements a full educational cycle — from Bachelor’s degree programs to PhD doctoral studies. Academic programs are designed to develop professional, analytical, and digital competencies aligned with the demands of the modern economy and international cooperation. Graduates successfully work in the education system, public administration, international organizations, diplomatic institutions, business, and expert-analytical centers.

It is represented in the QS World University Rankings and QS by Subject rankings in Linguistics and Modern languages, and actively participates in academic mobility and international projects. The University is a member of reputable international associations, including the UNESCO International Association of Universities, the European Language Council (ELC), the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), EAIE, EUPRERA, university consortia of the SCO and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as professional associations in tourism and international communications.
