From March 6 to March 10, 2023, teachers of the Department of Professional Foreign Language (economic and legal direction) held a week of Intensive English Language under the slogan "The Island of knowledge" for 2nd year students studying in the direction "6B041 - Business and Management" and "6B042 – Law“.
Students got the opportunity to check the level of formation of foreign language communicative competence, show off their knowledge in the specialty and show good linguistic erudition. The tasks attracted with their diversity, and were aimed at identifying intellectual and cognitive abilities, expanding the horizons of students and motivating them to study a professionally oriented foreign language in depth, developing skills to think creatively and outside the box.
The week of intensive English was held in a working and at the same time friendly atmosphere. Senior lecturer Tuleshova Karlygash Tagaevna, Duysebayeva Nurbibi Rakhimzhanovna, Nurbekova Gulshat Salimovna, Suleimanova Aigul Talgatovna and Tenizbaev Ersaiyn Nurlybayevich provided great assistance in organizing this event.
The week of intensive English was organized as a competition, during which students had to complete 4 diverse tasks - very interesting and sometimes very difficult, requiring versatile professional knowledge.
The competition was held in four stages:
Stage I included the written part and involved the writing of an essay, formal and informal letters.
Stage II included the oral part and was focused on the delivery of monologue and dialogic speech.
Stage III involved the defense of individual project work.
Stage IV included the implementation of group design work.
The list of conditions for participation in the competition and requirements for completing tasks was published on thechairofenglish Instagram page a week in advance so that students could choose the appropriate activity in advance. The following events were held under the slogan "The Island of knowledge":
- The event "The Island of creativity - Super Minds" - organized by senior teacher Tuleshova K.T. and involved making a video presentation.
- The event "The Island - Spelling bee" - organized by senior teacher Duysebayeva N.R. and assumed the delivery of monologue and dialogic speech.
- The event "The Island - The Super Student" - prepared by the senior teacher Nurbekova G.S. and focused on the implementation of individual project work.
- The event "The Island - Writing wizard" - held by the senior teacher Tenizbaev E.N. and involved the writing of formal and informal letters.
- The event "The Island - Marvellous in Speaking" - organized by the teacher Suleymanova A.T. and is focused on students preparing a dialogue in pairs or in a group of three in the form of a video presentation.

The Intensive English Week was a fun and exciting challenge for the students and served as a bridge between different groups. Students and teachers who organized the competition for our wonderful, cheerful, courageous and risk-averse students received a lot of positive emotions, a charge of vivacity and a good mood!
