On August 29-30, the 5th Eurasian Youth Academy of the Republic of Korea visited the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Ablai khan. The delegation that visited the university included 25 students from 21 universities of the Republic of Korea who passed a rigorous selection for participation in this program, including students from the Hanguk University of Foreign Studies, Busan University, Kyunghee University, Kemyeong, Sungkyungwan, Kukmin, Seoul Technological University , Moscow State University, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the Cooperation Forum "Central Asia - the Republic of Korea", the Hyundai Research Institute, the International Korea Foundation. The delegation from the Republic of Korea was warmly welcomed by the employees of the Center for Korean Studies, students of the Korean Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
The purpose of visiting the Eurasian Youth Academy is to strengthen relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea. As part of this program, students of the academy prepared projects on the topic “Korea - Central Asia: a joint journey to a better future”: healthcare, digitalization, tourism, economic security, environment and energy. Professor of the Department of Oriental Philology Jang Hojong delivered a lecture for students of Korean universities, in which he introduced students to our university, spoke about the development of Korean studies in Central Asia and the prospects for further development of relations between Kazakhstan and South Korea. In the second part of the meeting, Kazakh and Korean students worked in groups, got to know each other, discussed topics of interest to the youth of the two countries. For two days, students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Ablai khan KazUIRandWL had the opportunity to communicate with South Korean students, introduced guests to our beloved city. For our and Korean students it was an invaluable communication experience.
The guests were very grateful for the warm welcome, excellent organization of the event and expressed their hope for long-term cooperation between the Eurasian Youth Academy and our university.
