11.10.2023 Center for Korean Studies Ablai khan KazUIR and WL, with the support of the Education Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan, held a Korean Cuisine Day, within the framework of which a competition was organized for the preparation of Korean dishes popular among young people: kimbap and tteokbokki. About 65 3rd and 4th year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies studying Korean took part in the competition.
The participants split into 13 teams and started preparing. Despite the fact that the guys competed with each other, a warm, friendly atmosphere reigned at the event. While the older guys, “sunbae” in Korean, showed their skills in preparing dishes and creativity in their design, 12 volunteers of the Center for Korean Studies are juniors in the course, i.e. "Hube" - helped in organizing the event and cheered for their older comrades. 13 teams presented their dishes to a competent jury, which included native Korean-speaking teachers.
The jury had a difficult task - to evaluate the teams' work according to 4 criteria: the most delicious kimbap, the most delicious tteokbokki, the best decoration and the most creative presentation of the prepared dishes.
Based on the results of the jury’s work, winners were selected in each category and an incentive prize was awarded. The winners received small cash prizes, and all participants in this event received pleasure and positive emotions. Such events unite, raise corporate spirit and teach how to interact as a team.
By the way, the event took place outside, and the landscape and warm autumn sun gave the holiday an incredible atmosphere.
