We, first-year master’s students of the educational program “7M02211 – Oriental Studies” — Leila Baizova and Aidana Syzdykova — took part in an internship in the People’s Republic of China from November 7 to 16, 2025. The internship was held in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Urumqi) and in the city of Xi’an.

For us, as students of Oriental Studies, this internship became an important component of our professional training and a practical continuation of the theoretical knowledge acquired during our studies. The program enabled full immersion into the linguistic, cultural, and historical environment of China.

During the internship, we explored various aspects of Chinese civilization and culture, became acquainted with the historical heritage of the regions, visited significant cultural and historical sites in Urumqi and Xi’an, and had the opportunity to communicate directly with native speakers. This contributed to a deeper understanding of mentality, social processes, and the characteristics of everyday life in China.

The experience gained is of substantial importance for our academic and professional development, broadens our scholarly outlook, and strengthens the practical skills necessary for future activities in the field of Oriental Studies. We express our sincere gratitude to our university for organizing the internship and providing the opportunity for professional growth.
