As part of the international cooperation with the partner institution - the University of Central Lancashire (United Kingdom) - a webinar was held on October 29, 2025, organized by the Vladimir Vysotsky Centre for Slavic Studies at the University of Central Lancashire.
The keynote speaker was Symbat Makanovna Seksеnbayeva, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Speech Practice, Faculty of Foreign Philology, Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages.

Symbat Seksеnbayeva specializes in linguistics, particularly in media linguistics, cognitive linguistics, and sociolinguistics. She teaches a course in media text editing. She is a Bolashak International Scholarship recipient and completed a research internship at the University of Cambridge (UK). Additionally, she has participated in international projects and completed internships at the Institute of Translation and Interpretation in Strasbourg (France) and the University of Genoa (Italy).
Her presentation was titled “Cross-Cultural Synthesis of Eastern and Western Mythological Elements and the Creation of New Mythological Frameworks.”
The webinar brought together around 40 participants, including faculty members, master’s and doctoral students of KazUIR&WL, as well as international scholars.
The discussion focused on the interaction and mutual influence of Eastern and Western mythological traditions. It was noted that despite differing cultural contexts, both traditions share similar archetypal motifs and narratives - myths of creation, heroic journeys, and cosmic dualism. In the context of globalization, intercultural mythological exchange opens new avenues for synthesizing previously isolated narratives.
Symbat Seksеnbayeva emphasized that the creation of new mythological frameworks is not merely an academic pursuit but a vital process in today’s multicultural world. She noted that future mythologies may take hybrid forms, combining diverse traditions and fostering universally understandable meanings.
The event was international in scope and organized by the University of Central Lancashire (UK).
We take pride in our academics who represent our university with excellence on the international stage.
