On December 5, 2025, the Department of International Law organized a training seminar with the participation of the Director of the Regional Public Organization “International Human Rights Center,” internationally recognized mediation trainer, and author of the "Zhas Kelіssөz Sheberlerі" project Jandildy Azhigalievich Zhakupov. The purpose of the seminar was to equip students with technologies and methods of mediative negotiations, develop skills for constructive interaction, strategies for achieving mutually acceptable solutions, and effective conflict resolution.
The event brought together students from eight leading universities of Kazakhstan-
Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, TURAN University, Kazakh-Russian Medical University, International University of Transportation and Humanities, Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, M. Tynyshpayev ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev, Academy of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The training was organized as preparation part for teams consisting of five participants and a team leader from each university for the upcoming citywide interuniversity competition “Young Masters of Negotiations,” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The competition is scheduled for December 20, 2025.
Our university will be represented at this event by a team of students from the legal and international study programs under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of International Law, Zhuldyz Bazarbekovna Meermanova:
– Arlanuly Yerulan (3rd year student, educational program “6B04202 – International Law”);
– Melsova Saidakhon (3rd year student, educational program “6B04202 – International Law”);
– Sabit Ayazhan (4th year student, educational program “6B04201 – Jurisprudence”);
– Baymakhanov Meirzhan (3rd year student, educational program “6B03101 – International Relations”);
– Zholshibek Sanzhar (3rd year student, educational program “6B03101 – International Relations”).
During the practical part of the seminar, the trainer introduced students to the stages of the mediation process, presented key negotiation tools, methods for identifying the parties’ underlying interests, and strategies for preventing conflict escalation. Participants gained valuable practical skills, mastered techniques of international mediation, and applied them in solving the case provided by the trainer.
The seminar was held at a high organizational level, contributing to the development of students’ professional competencies, expanding their practical knowledge, and enhancing their readiness for the upcoming competition.
