On March 28, 2026, the city stage of the 19th International “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Language Proficiency Competition for university students was held in Almaty at the Confucius Institute of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Almaty.
The competition brought together students from leading universities, including Al-Farabi KazNU, Abai KazNPU, Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University, Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL, and others. At the initial stage, participants completed a written test, after which 12 finalists were selected. In the next round, they competed in expressive reading and talent performances.
Students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies representing the Confucius Institute at Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL demonstrated excellent results, showcasing a high level of preparation and creativity.
Three students from the Department of Oriental Languages Translation of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, representing the Confucius Institute at Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL, demonstrated excellent results. They delivered their performances expressively and showed a high level of preparation in the talent round.
In addition, the Confucius Institute at Abylai Khan KazUIR&WL received the “Best Organizer” award from the Consulate General of the PRC in Almaty.
The winners were granted the opportunity to participate in the national stage, which will be held on May 21–22, 2026, at Aktobe Regional University and organized by the Embassy of the PRC in Kazakhstan.
