From April 9 to 11, 2026, law students of Ablaikhan University participated in the International Model of the World Trade Organization - TimWTO 2026, held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

The event served as a practice-oriented platform aimed at simulating the institutional processes of the World Trade Organization, contributing to the enhancement of participants’ knowledge and the development of their professional competencies in international trade law and dispute settlement.
The Model, held under the theme “Reforming multilateral trade for a sustainable global economy”, brought together participants from Kazakhstan, India, Japan, and Uzbekistan, including undergraduate and graduate students, young researchers, and aspiring professionals with a strong interest in international trade law. The 2nd and 4th years students studying on the educational programmes “6B04201 – Jurisprudence” and “6B04202 – International Law” Aruzhan Imasheva (4th year) and Akerke Marat (2nd year) took part in this event under the supervision of associate professor of the International Law Department Zh.B. Meermanova.

As part of the Model, key mechanisms of the World Trade Organization were simulated, including negotiation processes and dispute settlement procedures. Participants actively engaged in mock committee sessions, developed legal positions, and conducted legal analysis and argumentation on issues related to international trade regulations. This format enabled them to gain deeper insight into how states formulate trade policies, defend national interests, build coalitions, and seek compromise solutions within a rules-based institutional framework.
The event also contributed to strengthening international academic cooperation among higher education institutions and public bodies, while preparing future professionals for meaningful participation in the global trade governance system.

Overall, the event was held at a high organizational and professional level, demonstrating the participants’ strong preparation, the depth of discussions, and the relevance of the topics addressed.
Participation in the forum allowed students to expand their professional competencies, develop negotiation, legal analysis, and public speaking skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience in a setting closely resembling real-world international organizations.
We congratulate our students and their academic supervisor on достойное представление университета на международной арене and wish them continued success, new achievements, and further professional growth!
