On April 28, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Kazakh Ablai Khan University hosted the annual Oriental Fest-2026.

The event was aimed at providing career guidance to high school students and college learners from Almaty and the Almaty region, as well as promoting academic programs in Oriental Studies.
The festival featured five thematic pavilions representing the cultural diversity of the East: China, Korea, Japan, Turkey, and the Arab world. Each pavilion was designed in a national style and offered interactive activities, allowing visitors to engage with the traditions, languages, and cultures of the represented regions.

At the Chinese pavilion, guests participated in a traditional tea ceremony, attended calligraphy master classes, and sampled national cuisine. The Japanese pavilion showcased an anime zone, cultural workshops, traditional food, and a tea ceremony. The Turkish pavilion attracted visitors with its sweets, national dances, and photo zone. A highlight of the festival was the “Baghdad Bazaar” in the Arab world pavilion, featuring oriental sweets, henna art, cultural displays, and musical and dance performances. The Korean pavilion, traditionally one of the most popular, offered a vibrant and engaging program.
The central part of the festival included a концерт program with student performances, national dances, musical acts, and cultural presentations, demonstrating a high level of creativity and preparation.

Oriental Fest-2026 became a dynamic platform for intercultural dialogue, experience exchange, and fostering young people’s interest in Eastern languages and cultures. Such initiatives contribute significantly to shaping students’ professional orientation and strengthening the Faculty’s reputation as a center for training highly qualified specialists.
