On May 21, 2026, the Department of Oriental Studies held an English language competition in the format of TED Talks among 2nd-year students.

During the event, students delivered vivid and insightful presentations on relevant topics addressing contemporary social issues, technology, and culture. The presented topics included: “Street Art: Vandalism or Voice of the People,” “The Impact of Social Media Influencers,” “Soft Skills vs Hard Skills,” “Why Asian Pop Culture Is Taking Over the World,” “Cultural Stereotypes: Why They Still Exist,” and “Cancel Culture,” as well as reflections on the influence of artificial intelligence and the role of education in the 21st century.
The participants’ speeches were characterized by creativity, clear structure, and confident command of the English language. Many students demonstrated not only language proficiency but also the ability to argue their viewpoints, analyze contemporary issues, and engage the audience effectively.

The competition served as an excellent platform for developing public speaking skills, critical thinking, and academic English. The atmosphere of the event was lively, inspiring, and friendly, encouraging open exchange of ideas.

3rd place Shoibekov Amirkhan
