On June 12, 2026, within the framework of the International Forum BRI-2026: “China – Central Asia: Digital Silk Road, Education and Innovation,” an international round table entitled “The Belt and Road Initiative and China’s Economic Diplomacy in Central Asia” was held at the Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages.

The event was organized with the support of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the grant project AP23490344, “Trends in the Economization of International Relations and the Economic Diplomacy of New Kazakhstan.”
The round table was opened by the Head of the Research Project, Candidate of Political Sciences, Professor K.Ch. Baisultanova, who delivered a welcoming speech and outlined the main directions of the academic discussion.
Welcoming remarks were also delivered by representatives of the international academic community. Among the distinguished guests were Bruno Dallago, Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Trento (Italian Republic), and Kunduzgul Zhamanchayevna Bazakayeva, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor, and Vice-Rector for Regional Affairs at the Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University (Kyrgyz Republic).

In their presentations, scholars, lecturers, doctoral students, master’s students, and international experts examined contemporary trends in the development of economic diplomacy in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, prospects for trade and economic cooperation among Kazakhstan, China, and the countries of Central Asia, as well as issues related to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, transport connectivity, and cultural interaction in the region.
The participants also emphasized the importance of international academic dialogue, the development of academic cooperation, and the strengthening of partnerships among universities from different countries. Particular attention was paid to the need for joint research on pressing issues of regional development, economic diplomacy, and international cooperation under contemporary conditions.

The round table served as an important platform for the exchange of academic ideas, the strengthening of scholarly dialogue, and the promotion of international cooperation in the field of economic diplomacy research.
