On April 19, 2025, the Department of International Law held the City Olympiad "Legal Marathon" among graduates of Almaty colleges, which allowed participants to demonstrate their theoretical and practical legal knowledge, leadership qualities and creativity in solving current legal problems. The 3-year students studying at the Law College, College of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, Almaty Technological, Financial and Innovative Technical College attended the Olympiad.
The following representatives were involved as the jury - Mukhamedzhanov Eduard Bolatovich, professor of the international law department, Akhmetov Bulat Isaevich - associate professor of the international law department, Rakhmatullin Khasan Shamilevich - judge of the Almaty garrison military court, Mukhamadiev Aiypkhan Ulykpanovich - lawyer and member of the Chamber of Professional Legal Consultants of Almaty.
The Olympiad consisted of two main rounds. The first round involved online testing on the fundamentals of civil and criminal law. The second round was focused on an oral response and involved solving a simulated problem situation case close to real legal practice.
Following the results of the Olympiad, the participants were awarded Diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees, certificates, nominations and memorable gifts. Thus, the following students became the winners of the City Olympiad:
- Musa Bauyrzhan, Lesken Aruzhan - holders of the 1st degree Diploma
- Ibrayev Dinmukhamed, Nurulla Zhansaya - holders of the 2nd degree Diploma
- Zhumabek Aidana, Anvarkyzy Ayazhan, Shilo Artem, Ibragimova Takhmina - holders of the 3rd degree Diploma.
In addition to diplomas, participants who demonstrated a creative approach, deep knowledge and a high level of professional skill in solving legal problems, presenting convincing legal positions and participating in a reasoned discussion were also awarded special nominations, such as "Best Legal Expert", "Best Erudite", "Best Persuasion Master", "Most Creative Approach to Solving a Case", "Master of Legal Knowledge", "Best Lawyer".
During the break between the first and second rounds, the teachers organized a tour to the forensic laboratory, where the participants could get acquainted with the modern technologies and methods used in the process of solving and investigating various types of crimes. The participants also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the key areas of forensic examination. Then the participants were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the courtroom, which has all the necessary means and conditions for conducting a full-fledged trial, including the work of the judge, lawyers, prosecutors and other participants in the process.
All participants of the Olympiad received certificates which provide the opportunity to enter the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages for the 1st year of accelerated training with the right to choose one of the educational programs "6B04201- Jurisprudence" / "6B04202 International Law" under an educational services agreement without passing entrance exams.
The past Olympiad became an excellent opportunity for graduates of Almaty colleges to demonstrate their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of law, as well as compete in intellectual tasks and demonstrate their legal preparedness.
