On May 26, 2025, a delegation from the Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages paid an official visit to Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China). The visit took place within the framework of a broader initiative to strengthen international academic partnerships and marked an important step toward expanding strategic cooperation between the two leading institutions of higher education.
The delegation was headed by Professor Dana Kunanbayeva, Acting Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University. The delegation also included Associate Professor Zhanar Zhyltyrova, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor Kulipa Baisultanova, and Associate Professor Meirat Omarov.
During the meeting with Professor Huang Xianhai, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Professor Wang Zhikai from the Faculty of Economics, and representatives of the faculties of economics, media, law, public administration, and foreign languages, an in-depth academic exchange took place. Specific mechanisms of collaboration were considered, including academic exchange of faculty and students, organization of summer schools, joint implementation of research projects, and the development of dual and parallel degree programs.
Later, from 13:30 to 14:00, a separate meeting was held with Professor Zhou Jianhong, Vice President for International Cooperation of Zhejiang University and with the staff of international cooperation department. Professor Zhou Jianhong expressed readiness to further strengthen bilateral collaboration and proposed the future establishment of a joint research center.
The outcomes of the visit reaffirmed the high level of mutual understanding, shared values in education and science, and a strong commitment to the sustainable development of academic cooperation.
In general, the visit was highly productive and reaffirmed the shared values of innovation, openness, and academic excellence. Both universities look forward to fruitful collaboration and the implementation of joint projects in the near future.
