On May 13, 2024 at 11.00 a.m., the Department of International Law, as part of a guest lecture, held a meeting between students of the Faculty of International Relations, Law and Business EP 6B04201 - “Jurisprudence” and 6B04202 - “International Law” with the Representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city Almaty Maldybaev Kazybek Maldybaevich, on the topic: “On the activities of the National Center for Human Rights” which monitors the implementation by Member States of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
During the lecture Maldybaev K.M. emphasized the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the goals and objectives of monitoring compliance with the constitutional rights and freedoms of man and citizen, the activities of the institute in the field of protecting human rights and mechanisms for protecting violated rights.
It were provided examples of where an individual complaint has resulted in a positive outcome for the complainant: in the form of compensation, a retrial, an investigation into specific events or the provision of other remedies by the State party.
The meeting was held in a question-and-answer format, during which aspiring international lawyers were provided with information about the mechanisms for protecting human rights.
At the end of the discussion, a number of students expressed a desire to undergo professional practice at the representative office.
