On May 30-31, 2024, the annual two-day XV Central Asian Forum InternetCA-2024 was held in Almaty. The forum was attended by the third-year students of “Journalism” and second-year students of “Public Relations” educational programs, as well as the faculty of the Department of International Communications of the Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages by the invitation of the public foundation “International Center for Journalism MediaNet”.
The forum has become an important platform for discussing key issues, such as digitalization in Central Asia, the role of the state and business in regulating the Internet sphere, methods of countering cyber threats, as well as the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence for civil society and human rights. International experts presented their reports, paying special attention to neural network services and their impact on the development of the internet sphere.
Representatives of government agencies and civil society, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as representatives of the media (media specialists) from Central Asian countries participated in panel sessions where they discussed issues of combating digital gender discrimination in Central Asia, personal data protection and types of cyber attacks in the digital space.
