Online Korean lessons for students of the Korean department of KazUIR & WL

    From October 5 to October 26, 2020, at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Ablai Khan (KazUIR & WL named after Ablai Khan) held "Online Korean language courses within the framework of the project for foreign practice in Central Asia 2020".

    The online opening ceremony was attended by Project Leader Professor Lee Dongyeun (Kukmin University), Head of Korean Language Promotion Department Kim Jinyup, Lee Yunmi (National Research Institute of Korean Language), Professor of Kukmin University Lee Hyojeong, Lee Soo Young, Yoon Boeun, Professor of Myungji University Cho Namho  , Professor at Hanyang University Kim Jong Hoon, Professor Kim Jihe at Koryo University.  KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan represented Professor Pak Nelli Sergeevna, Associate Professor Khan Nelly Chanivna, as well as other teachers of the Korean language in KazUIR& WL named after  Ablai  Khan.

     This year, 90 students of the Korean department  additionally took extracurricular hours of Korean lessons together with native speakers - nineteen future teachers led by 5 experienced teachers from Korea, got acquainted with the traditional and modern culture of Korea.  This was a good opportunity for our students to communicate with native speakers and learn more about the country of the studying   language.

     The Overseas Internship Program for Future Korean Language Teachers, which has been ongoing since 2017, provides an opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate students studying Korean as a specialization to undergo overseas internships to teach Korean at various universities in Korea, as well as to strengthen relations with foreign educational institutions where the Korean language is taught.  Over the three years of this program in Kazakhstan, with the support of the National Research Institute of the Korean Language of the Republic of Korea, the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages ​​and Kukmin University, short-term Korean language courses have caused a great positive response among students.  Korean language teachers were given the opportunity to undergo training abroad, and for many Almaty schoolchildren, participation in this program helped to determine the choice of university and specialty.

    The event was held by the National Research Institute of the Korean Language, organized by the Center for Korean Studies of the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages ​​named after Ablai Khan and the project group to support foreign practice of Kukmin University.

     Young teachers from Korea Song Chaeyoung and Seo Yuri expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the preparation and possibility of conducting online lessons, despite the difficulties in which the whole world finds itself at present.  Isabekova Aidana and Makanova Ardak on behalf of the students of the Korean department of KazUIR & WL named after  Ablai Khan also expressed gratitude to all those whose efforts have provided the opportunity to study the language and culture of Korea with teachers from Korean universities in an online format.
