- Scientific and Practical Seminar on “The Modern Language Space: Social Changes and the Evolution of Communication”
On 23rd of October 2026, the Department of Sociolinguistics of the A. Baitursynuly Institute of Linguistics, in collaboration with the Faculty of Translation and Philology and the Department of Postgraduate Education of Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, organized a research and practice seminar entitled “The Contemporary Linguistic Landscape: Social Change and the Evolution of Communication.” The seminar was conducted in both offline and online formats.

On October 21, 2026, the Department of international law organized a distinguished lecture entitled “The role of the new Constitution in strengthening the balance of power and the voice of civil society.” The event aimed to explain the key provisions of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, discuss ongoing constitutional reforms, and promote greater citizen participation in the country's political and public life.

- Call for Applications for the 2027 Grant Funding Competition for Young Researchers
The Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces a competition for grant funding for young researchers undertaking scientific and/or scientific and technical projects for 2027.
Application period: 13 October–11 November 2026.
Project start: 2027. Project duration: 36 months.
The aim of the competition is to encourage research initiatives by young researchers. Both fundamental and applied research are supported.
Funding per project: for projects in the social sciences, humanities and arts, up to KZT 75 million for the entire project period, including up to KZT 25 million annually.
Priority research area: Fundamental research, scientific groundwork and scientific potential.
The project leader and all research team members must be 44 years of age or younger at the time of application.

- Call for Applications for the 2027 “Zhas Galym” Competition
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced a competition for grant funding for young researchers under the “Zhas Galym” project for 2027.
Application period: 12 October–11 November 2026.
Project start date: January 2027. Project duration: 36 months.
The competition aims to develop highly qualified and competitive researchers, attract and retain talented young people in science, and increase the proportion of young researchers.
Funding per project is up to KZT 30 million for the entire project period, including up to KZT 10 million annually. Both fundamental and applied research are supported.
The grant is intended for an individual research project conducted by a postdoctoral researcher with a scientific adviser. Other research team members and support staff are not предусмотрены. Each postdoctoral researcher may participate in only one application.
Priority research area:
1. Fundamental research, scientific groundwork, and scientific potential.Main requirements for postdoctoral researchers:
• Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan and an age of 44 or younger at the time of application;• A PhD, a professional doctorate, a Doctor of Sciences or Candidate of Sciences degree, or completion of the full doctoral study programme. Applicants who have not yet defended their dissertation must do so within 12 months of signing the agreement;• An article and/or review in the relevant research field published in peer-reviewed international and/or domestic journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education;• No leadership of state-budget-funded research projects or programmes during the preceding 18 months, and no participation in their research teams at a full-time or greater workload during the preceding 6 months;• A domestic and/or international scientific adviser whose expertise matches the project’s research area and who meets the requirements of the competition documentation;• Teaching at a higher and postgraduate education institution with a workload of at least 5 ECTS credits per academic yearduring the project period.Full eligibility criteria, requirements, and the list of required documents are available in the competition documentation.https://www.ncste.kz/ru/zhas-%D2%93alyim-2027-zhyil-36-aj
