Almaty, September 18, 2025 – The Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages hosted a guest lecture featuring the creative team of the Kazakh-Spanish co-production La Tregua (The Truce).
The event was attended by Executive Producer Yerlan Bekhozhin, actress Dina Tasbulatova, and translator Yuta Abramets. The guests shared their experience working on an international project – from casting and filming to translation, creative adaptation, and post-production.
Students were particularly interested in the topics of translation for film, actor training in foreign languages, and the role of linguists in co-productions. The speakers emphasized that language skills are one of the most important competitive advantages in today’s creative industries.
«Learning languages is your main asset. Film, television, and media need people who can connect cultures», - noted Yerlan Bekhozhin.
Actress Dina Tasbulatova spoke about how rehearsing in Spanish helped her pass the casting process and collaborate directly with the international team without intermediaries:
«I learned my lines in Spanish to show that I was ready for the role. That became my advantage», - she shared.
Translator and creative adapter Yuta Abramets spoke about her journey from handling documents and negotiations to working on set, participating in dubbing, and localizing the film:
«I saw how the profession of a linguist spans the entire process - from the very first meetings to the final frame», - she said.
Olga Yakovlevna Kim, Head of the Department of international communications at the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, emphasized:
«Events like this allow our students - translators, journalists, diplomats - to see a real pathway into their profession, broaden their horizons, and find motivation to move forward and build a career on the international stage».
In an open-talk format, students actively asked questions about the essence of the film, the specifics of shooting in Spain, casting, acting techniques, translation, production, and historical accuracy.
The meeting was part of a series of lectures for students and representatives of the creative industries organized by the producers of La Tregua.
