An irreparable loss - Professor of KazUIR&WL named after Ablai Khan Marie Karmysova Kamalovna passed away

Marie Karmysova Kamalovna, a highly qualified specialist in the field of foreign language education, a professor of the department of postgraduate education, a great scientist who made a significant contribution to the development of science in Kazakhstan, passed away.

For more than 50 years, Marie Kamalovna's professional activity has been associated with the Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages. Having passed all the professional levels in her pedagogical activity from a teacher, senior teacher, associate professor, head of the department, vice-rector for academic work, she actively participated in the innovative development of foreign language education in Kazakhstan.  In addition, in the most difficult years of KazUIR&WL formation, she was a vice-rector for educational and methodological work. For 15 years she was the chairman of the scientific and methodological council of the university, carried out a large scientific and methodological work on the development of normative and control documentation.

Marie Kamalovna lived a bright and dignified life, was a true intellectual, a person of brilliant intellect, great erudition. She was the author of unique textbooks in the French language. A subtle connoisseur of words, Marie Kamalovna opened the beauty and melodiousness of the French language to undergraduates and doctoral students, under her leadership a whole galaxy of specialists of a new generation in foreign language education was trained: candidates of sciences, masters, who have joined the ranks of the teaching staff of our country. The total volume of scientific publications exceeds 100 titles: monographs, articles, reviews, and reports.

The professional activity of Professor M.K. Karmysova was duly appreciated by a number of state and departmental awards and in 2012 the French government awarded her the honorary order of the "Academic Palm Branch" for her contribution to the development and promotion of the French language in Kazakhstan.

A small fragile woman with a French charm and a name in the French manner, Marie Kamalovna struck with her strong character and iron logic in scientific disputes. A lucky combination of natural abilities, creative activity, amazing performance, academic decency, high professionalism, and tireless work on herself allowed Marie Kamalovna to realize her creative and professional potential. It is safe to say that the name of Professor Marie Kamalovna Karmysova, whose merits in training specialists of a new formation can hardly be overestimated and it will rightfully fit in golden letters into the chronicle of foreign language education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This is a great loss for relatives, friends, and for national science. Marie Kamalovna is no longer with us. But her richest scientific heritage remained her students who will continue the work of their mentor.  There is a good memory of this bright, spiritually generous person. We convey our sincere condolences, words of sympathy to relatives, friends, and colleagues, everyone who knew, respected, and appreciated Marie Kamalovna Karmysova.

Eternal memory and irreparable loss for the university and science in Kazakhstan!
