Master - Translation studies

    Master’s degree programs: 7М02356 (01) –Translation studies (academic field), 7М02356 (02)- Translation studies (subject field).

    Training in the master’s degree department is carried out in two fields: subject (1 year) and academic (2 years). Full-time form of education.

    The main goal of “Translation Studies” 7M02356 Study Program is to train highly qualified experts in the theory and practice of translation and intercultural communication who are capable of independent critical thinking and can solve problems on improving science and developing new technologies, analyze and solve current issues in the field of translation. They should possess a set of professionally oriented competences as well.

    The program covers a deep understanding of the existing theories and development research trends on translation and intercultural communication in the context of the global intercultural space. It should train professional skills in conducting scientific research in the field of translation as well, taking into account its cognitive, linguo-culturological, national-cultural and pragma-functional aspects; classification and typology of translation, aspects of the integrative and multidisciplinary translation process and translation models. The program is also aimed at improvement of the planning, developing, implementing and adjusting the complex process of scientific research skills.

    The training of masters-translators assumes profile specialization in a certain field of activity:

    1. Researcher in the field of translation studies
    2. Interpretation and translation expert in all the fields possible
    3. Highly qualified teacher of a high school or university

    Professional activity variation:

    1)    Translation (translation of different texts and documents, interpretation of negotiations, international meetings, conferences);

    2)    Organizational (events management, creation of professional and public organizations);

    3)    Management (management and/or fulfillment of professional duties (various types of translation) in the sections of domestic, foreign and joint ventures and organizations);

    4) Research (collection and processing of practical material, preparation of reports and articles, projects on problems of translation studies and intercultural communication).

    5) Academic (teaching languages, teaching the translation of various professional discourses)

    6) Industry (translator for economic, legal, medical, industrial, media organizations).

    The content of the master's studuy program consists of:
          1) Theoretical training, including the study of cycles of basic and majors;
          2) Practicaltrainingofundergraduates: various kinds of practices, scientific or professional internships;
         3) Scientific-research and experimental-research work.

         4) Finals.

    The program is taught and supervised by experts with the highest academic qualifications: members of the Academy of Sciences, doctors of sciences, professors, candidates of sciences, associate professors with a solid scientific and pedagogical background, doctors of philosophy (PhD), as well as foreign teachers.

    Upon completion of the educational program the university awards the following degree:

           -Academic field - Master of Philology as per the "7M02356(01) - Translation Studies" study program.

           -Subject field - Master of Linguistics as per the "7M02356(01) - Translation Studies" study program.

    The university has a large selection of programs, a flexible learning system, much attention is paid to self-training for subjects. During the academic year, undergraduates in two fields, that is subject (1 year) and academic (2 years), choose the following Minor subjects:
