On November 29, 2017 Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages will hold the International Forum "Diversity of  Socio-Economic and Cultural-Linguistic Manifestations in the Republic of Kazakhstan" dedicated to Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan   and to the implementation of the program article of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan "A Look into the Future: the Modernization of Public Consciousness: Rukhani Zhangyru", understanding  the experience of foreign language education and the Humanities.

The purpose of the conference: discussion of a broad range of issues on topical issues of modernization of Kazakhstan.

To participate in the work of the Forum, researchers from research institutes, teachers of universities, colleges, doctoral students, undergraduates, students and other interested persons are invited.

Block "Rukhani zhangyru"

1. Transformation of the national consciousness: historical experience and spiritual modernization.
2. The value of transition to the Latin alphabet.
3. Rukhani zhangyru - the way to the future.

Block "The diversity of cultural and linguistic manifestations in the Republic of Kazakhstan"

1. Foreign language education in the focus of linguistic and cultural methodology.
2. Actual problems of linguistic and philological research.
3. Issues of translation and intercultural communication in the context of a functional-pragmatic typology of languages ​​and cultures.
4. Reform of the state language is an important issue of the modernization program of public consciousness.

Block "Transformation of modern political and economic processes":

1. Global shifts in the system of world politics.
2. Towards a new world order?
3. Actual trends in the development of modern international and national law.
4. Strategic priorities and mechanisms for protecting Kazakhstan's economic interests in conditions of social modernization of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
5. Modern trends in the development of social and human sciences (oriental studies, management, tourism, etc.).

The deadline for submission of applications and articles - until November 19, 2017.

The publication fee: 3 000 tenge, for doctoral students, undergraduates and students - 2 000 tenge.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject submitted scientific articles not relevant to the theme of the conference or the requirements for the design of scientific articles.

Registration Requirements

Volume - 5-7 pages in the format of the text editor MS Word, including footnotes. Page parameters: all sides 2.0 cm (Word text editor, Font KZ Times New Roman, Times New Roman, font: size - 12, line spacing - 1pt, paragraph indent -1.25). It is not allowed to insert drawings, diagrams, tables in the text. Pages are not numbered, carryings are not put. Footnotes on literature should be given in accordance with the basic publishing standards for the preparation of articles in accordance with Government standard 7.5-98 "Journals, collections, information publications. Publishing design of published materials ", bibliographic lists in accordance with Government standard 7.1-2003"Bibliographic record. Citation. General requirements and rules" [2, p.5]. Pay attention to the design of the electronic document.

At the top right is the UDC of the article, then on the left, in the usual font, the surname, initials of the author (s), degree, academic title, position, full name of the organization. The title of the report is printed in bold with an alignment in the middle, there is no dot at the end of the title. Next, after the indentation, the summary and key words are in English, followed by keywords and a summary in the language of the article (Kazakh or Russian, 8-10 lines, 70-90 words). Then follows the text of the article. Concludes the article "Әдебиет" - if the article is in Kazakh, "Литература" - if the article is in Russian, "References" - if the article is in English.

The file name must match the name of the author (or first author).

In case of discrepancy of the material presented to the conference theme and the requirements of scientific publication organizing Committee reserves the right to suspend him. Manuscripts are not returned.

Theoretical basis of research of "memories wars"

Keywords: war memories,  collective memory, political myths, invention of tradition.

Abstract: The article is concerned with the conceptual bases of memory wars research, methodological development of “collective memory”, the interaction between national identity and collective memory, bases of “political myths” formation.

The author comes to the conclusion that human reality - the reality is socially constructed. Collective memory is one of the main components in the society development. It is impossible without it to imagine the existence of the community.

Автор приходит к выводу, что человеческая реальность – это реальность социально конструируемая. Коллективная память является одним из главных компонентов в развитии общества. Без нее невозможно представить себе существование социального сообщества [2, c.5]. 

Обращение к изучению «войн памяти» представляет собой одно из новых и перспективных направлений в современном востоковедении, позволяет существенно расширить горизонты познания прошлого, дает новые ответы на старые проблемы, а также ставит и решает ряд принципиально иных исследовательских задач.

Intensivelanguagecourse. The center offersthe learners opportunities to study Kazakh and Russian languagesthrough intensive language immersion programs. The Kazakh and Russian language coursesare for people who need to improve their Kazakh or Russian languages and for the learners who want to study on a degree program. Completing successfully will guarantee the learners places on an undergraduate degree programs at the Kazakh Abylai Khan University of International Relations & World Languages and other Kazakhstani universities.

Training for different long periods of time and professional language course.This course is especially suitable for a learner who has an intermediate level of Kazakh or Russian languages.The learners are offered basic courses in Kazakh and Russian,as well as a number of special discipline options for choice. On May 11, 2017  Kazakh Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages ​​named after organizes a round table with the participation of doctoral students, undergraduates and young scientists in the framework of the matrix program on "Transnational projects in the context of global economic partnership: new benchmarks." The aim of the event is to comprehend the accumulated experience and develop effective approaches and methodology to study the problems of transnational projects in the context of a global economic partnership. The round table is held at the framework of the matrix program of the master's program "Kazakhstan in the system of international coordinates and problem studies".

The form of participation in the conference: full-time, part-time.

The Central Asian contest of compositions in the Korean language was held at KazUIR & WL. Abylai Khan on December 10. 38 students from 4 countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan , took part in the competition. These 38 students represented 22 universities. The event was supported by the Sungkyunkwan University (Republic of Korea), which awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and rewarding place with grants to study for master’s degree at Sungkyunkwan University.

1st place was taken by the Abylai Khan KazUIR & WL student -Tyo Yelena (4th year, major: Translation Studies (Korean Language)). 2nd place was taken by the the Al-Farabi KazNU student- Zamira Usmanova. 3rd place was taken by the Kyrgyz-Korean College student - Aizhan Beyshenbekova. Rewarding place was taken by the Abylain Khan KazUIR & WL student - Saltanat Muhametkan (4th year, major: Foreign Philology (Korean Language)).

From 17 to 18 November, 2016 JS « Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages» will have accreditation evaluation of Accreditation Agency ACQUIN (Germany) of the following degree programs:

- «Foreign Language: two foreign languages» (Bachelor/Master/PhD programs),

- «Translation Studies» (Bachelor/Master/PhD programs),

- «Foreign Phylology» (Bachelor/Master/PhD programs),

- «Pedagogy and Psychology» (Master program).

The Studienstiftung des Abgeordnetenhauses was founded by the Berlin House of Representatives in 1994 as a late sign of gratitude to the Allied Forces who occupied, befriended, and protected Berlin and its citizens for almost fifty years after the end of World War II. The Foundation wants to sustain and develop contact with France, Great Britain, the United States, Russia and other successor states of the former Soviet Union.
The Studienstiftung des Abgeordnetenhauses von Berlin sponsors a scholarship programme for students and young scholars of all fields from the above-mentioned countries. Applicants should work on projects that require access to research facilities in Berlin. The scholarships are awarded according to various criteria, including academic merit and civic engagement.
The Foundation awards 15 grants per year. The grants amount to 1,100 EUR for graduate and doctoral students and 1,630 EUR for post-doctoral scholars per month including the rent for the International Study Centre Berlin. In addition, the Foundation pays travel costs to and from Berlin.
During their 10-month stay scholarship holders will not only experience their research areas from an international perspective, but also the political, cultural and social dimensions of public life in Berlin.

ANNOUNCEMENT

June 6, 2016 the opening of the Summer School «On-cameramediatraining»will take place on the base of Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages. Tutors from Teesside University (UK) Ms.Hannah Kristyn Higginson and Mr. Josh Gallacher will teach the participants to create high-quality video production (shooting, interviews, montage). The working language is English.

Dear students!!!

We would like to invite you to participate in a poetry translation contest, which is open to all full-time students of Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.
Made possible by an anonymous donation, this annual poetry translation contest is named in honor of former member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and long time Professor of English at Columbia University, Kenneth Koch (1925-2002), a renowned poet, translator, and educator of poetry.

Goal
The goal of the prize is to help stimulate interest and activity in translation, in particular the translation of poetry from English to Kazakh and Kazakh to English. Through participation in the contest, students and faculty at KazUIR & WL may continue to develop a broad range of translation skills.

Eligibility
Any and all students enrolled full-time at KazUIR & WL, undergraduate or graduate, irrespective of nationality, citizenship, or major field of study are eligible to enter the contest. All full-time students at KazUIR & WL are encouraged to enter.

Criteria
Preference in judging will be given to poems that have not yet been translated from one language to the other. Students are encouraged to work with poems written/published fairly recently (within the past 100 years), though poems from all periods are eligible. Preference will also be given to translations of poems that reflect the aesthetic, poetic principles of Kenneth Koch—namely, the positive inspiration of the language of poetry in bringing light, illumination, humor (though not necessarily comedic) and pleasure to the world. <br/ >Two prizes shall be awarded each year: one for the best translation of a poem from English to Kazakh, and one for the best translation of a poem from Kazakh to English. Students may submit poems for both prizes (in addition to the translation, the text of the original, with the author’s name, date and publication/bibliographic information must also be submitted). Each student should submit a maximum of three translated poems for each prize. The length of the poem is open.

Judging
Three judges shall serve as referees in order to determine the winners and Honorable Mentions. These referees will include two judges appointed from the faculty of KazUIR & WL and one judge who is a native-speaker of English from a university outside Kazakhstan (or non-university affiliated actively publishing practitioner of the translation of poetry). Kenneth Koch’s former student, Professor Loren Goodman of Yonsei University/Underwood International College in South Korea, will serve as the first foreign judge. All three judges shall work together to determine the winners and Honorable Mentions. Finally, the judges shall determine two winners (one for each prize) and up to ten Honorable Mentions, five for each prize.

• Translations found to be plagiarized, including copying and pasting content from any websites, will be disqualified.

Prizes and Prize Money
Winners of the two prizes shall each receive a certificate and share the prize money (which may fluctuate annually according to the interest on the endowment) equally each year. If the same student is judged to have won both prizes, that student shall receive the full amount of the prize money. Students selected for Honorable Mention will receive a certificate, but no prize money.
